Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Vancouver for afternoon, airport pick-up and transfer to downtown hotel. In the evening there will be a welcome dinner at Vancouver restaurant and an opportunity to meet the group and guides and go over some of the general trip information.
Day 2 Today will be a relatively light ride in the Vancouver area and a chance for you to ease into Canadian west coast riding. Burnaby Mountain is part of the Simon Fraser University Campus and has over 75 km of steep forest trails within a half hour drive of your downtown Vancouver hotel.
Day 3 We will leave Vancouver early and drive one hour north of the city for a full day of riding in Squamish. The town of Squamish bills itself as the "Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada". Located at the head of Howe Sound - a 50 km Coastal Fjord - Squamish is blessed with dramatic geography that has led to it becoming a popular destination for climbers, windsurfers and mountain bikers. There are hundreds of kilometers of mountain bike trails in the area and we will be riding many of the best. Dinner is at the local Brew Pub and then up the road to Whistler where we will be based for the next 3 days.
Day 4 Today we will ride the technical cross country trails of Whistler, famous in mountain bike circles for extreme, steep, loose and rooty singletrack. Whistler is the only municipality in the country that actually hires mountain bike trail builders and their work will not disappoint.
Day 5 Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Billed as the "ride of your life" at North America's most comprehensive, lift accessed mountain bike terrain park. Endless kilometers of lift serviced gravity fed trails complete with stunts, jumps and drops. A great way to take your riding to the next level.
Day 6 This is the crux day so we will tune today's ride to suit how the group is feeling. There are plenty of options, including riding in Pemberton 30 minutes up of the highway if people are up to it. A more relaxed option would be to ride "A River Runs Through it", a classic Whistler trail which has evolved into a gigantic, forested skills park and great place to spend an afternoon on a mountain bike.
Day 7 Back to Vancouver for an introduction to the North Shore. There is no where else on the planet like it. Ride and see first hand why this area has had so much impact on the development of mountain biking. These are the toughest trails of the trip and we've purposely left the Shore till last. But by now you will be ready and whether you style the trail or get spanked, you will come away a better rider. This is the final evening of the trip and we will celebrate our exploits with a farewell group dinner.
Day 8 Departure. But for those with the energy and an afternoon flight, we have the option for a morning North Shore ride on Mount Seymour.
